A few months ago I photographed some expecting parents at a beautiful lake in Battleground, Washington. It was that shoot that made me realize how much I missed photographing wildlife and landscapes, so in January of 2018, I made a promise to myself to get outside and go on more adventures. I also made it a goal to incorporate nature into more of my work, and that is exactly what I did with Michael and Amanda's engagement shoot.
I was ecstatic when Amanda first asked me to photograph her special day. After discovering Amanda had moved to Arizona and started a new life with Michael, I instantly knew where I wanted to photograph their engagement.
I met Michael and Amanda at Horseshoe Bend shortly after sunrise. As we walked down the path to the viewpoint, Amanda and I reminisced about the past, and Michael and I got to know one another. We took some time to admire the scenery and before they knew it, I was snapping photos. Within minutes of our shoot, it was clear that Michael and Amanda were madly in love.
After an hour of shooting, we decided to part ways and regroup at sunset for more photos. That evening we met again at Horseshoe Bend only to discover the weather had taken a turn for the worse. After a brief discussion, we decided it was best to cancel our sunset session at Horseshoe Bend and snap a few photos at a scenic lookout instead. At the lookout, our sunset session didn't last long. With extreme winds and freezing temperatures, Michael and Amanda braved the cold for a couple minutes, giving me just enough time to capture some beautiful moments.
Thank you Michael and Amanda for agreeing to make the trip up to Page and for being such great sports when the weather went south. I made a promise to myself to go on more adventures and an adventure is what I got. Our trip to Page, Arizona is definitely an experience I will never forget, and for you two, your adventure together is just beginning.
